Lake Kivu Destination Wedding Photographer | The Wedding of Kingsley and Jessica
I’ve been shooting weddings for eighteen years, and I thought I’d seen it all. Then, this trip to Rwanda to attend and shoot the wedding of Jessica and Kingsley made me realize that while life is about going full circles, it is also an endless loop, and how you react to every moment will shape (pun intended) how the next go-around will be.
I met Kingsley 13 years ago in Santorini. He was a guest at a wedding and I was the wedding photographer. At that time, I didn’t think that these acquaintances in such settings would stick (and they usually don’t), much less develop, but ours did. We’ve stayed in touch, and I saw him rise to fame as a music artist in Dubai and we tried to catch up every time I visited. I guess with the right people friendship does stick even when you barely see each other (or maybe it sticks because you barely do lol), and when you do, it’s always special.
There couldn’t be anything special than seeing AND getting to shoot Kingsley on his wedding to Jessica, the woman of his dreams, and is every bit amazing. Right away, shooting a dear friend’s wedding is remarkable even for a seasoned photographer like me, but when he told me that the wedding was going to be held along the majestic Kivu Lake in Rwanda, it was history in the making.
For something I had high expectations for, this wedding turned out much more than I imagined. I saw some of the most beautiful places for the first time and more importantly, met some of the nicest people ever – people as warm and as great as Kingsley. Now if my bond with Kingsley is of any indication, it won’t be a stretch to expect new beautiful circles to form and more memories to be made – I already had a reunion in London with my Kigali crew.
