For decades, this land was a mystery — its sculpted cliffs, golden light, and ancient canyons quietly hidden from the world. Only recently did its gates open, allowing a few fortunate ones to walk among stones that have witnessed centuries of silence. To photograph here felt almost like a privilege extended in whispers.

We arrived knowing it wouldn’t be simple. Saudi Arabia still guards its spaces carefully; people are reserved, rules are firm, and every request passes through measured eyes. Shooting here meant patience, respect, and constant improvisation. We learned to adjust with as much grace as we can — shifting plans, chasing light across endless rock faces, finding beauty not in spite of the limits but because of them.

And still, even with all the restrictions, the images we created felt effortless — as if AlUla itself wanted to be seen.

Shin and Mark made this possible. Their trust, openness to use resources, and belief in pushing boundaries turned a near-impossible shoot into a living dream. They understood that extraordinary places demand extraordinary effort — and they gave exactly that.
