Game of Thrones Pre-Debut Photos | Kim

What is the single best TV show in history? Friends! But my generation Y bias and Jennifer Aniston obsession aside, it should be, without a doubt, Game of Thrones. And today’s feature shoot allowed us to take part in reimagining TV history’s greatest show in our own way.

I have to be honest, I tried watching it maybe at least three different times initially and I could not get past the scene where King Robert was asking Ned Stark, inside the dungeon, to be The Hand of the King. It was one of the most dragging pilot episodes and I couldn’t understand why a lot of people were liking it. Then in one long haul and no-flight-entertainment flight with Philippine Airlines, I was forced to watch, get over the hump, and I have never been more engrossed with a TV series again.

This month, Game of Thrones will premiere its final season. It’s bittersweet and I accept that all good things must end. But before that happens, we had a great opportunity to pay tribute to a phenomenon by shooting a Game of Thrones-themed pre-debut session and we made sure we did the best we could.

Mariveles in Bataan offered the landscapes closest to that of Westeros without having to travel far from Manila. I have shot here several times and I have imagined its potential. All we needed are additional elements to take it to the next level – a horse and a dog did just that. Of course, having a true-blooded fan in Kim, as a subject, was important as well.

It’s amazing what the proper combination of location, styling, subject, props, and execution can do to a vision. We would not have agreed to do it if we knew we would do anything less than these. We owe it to being fans of the show, we owe it to our clients, and we owe to it to our own followers. Enjoy the photos.
