Masungi Geopark Trash the Dress | Shy and Ian Cruz

I have known Ian Cruz ever since I started my profession as a wedding photographer – pretty long considering that it has been almost 9 years already. I knew him quite well having worked with him constantly and seen him become one of the most admired and most well-known wedding videographers in the country. But having the experience of shooting him and his beautiful wife Shy for their after-wedding shoot, gave us a different aspect of knowing who Ian is as a subject, as a husband, as a father, and as a person. It just feels different shooting a fellow member of the industry – much more someone who does something close to what we photographers actually do. He already knows the ins and outs of every shoot and the style we do that’s why there was a little bit more pressure. But I realised that on the other side of the coin, the fact that they know what needs to get done in order for us to be successful, Ian and Shy were extremely understanding, patient, and were so much fun to be with. They just let us do what we need to do and I am extremely grateful for them for that.

I have to say that while I am enjoying my life as a photographer, it is time like these, when we get to shoot our friends forms he industry, when we get to know them and their family more, and when we bond a little bit more, that make it extra special. Thanks again to Shy and Ian for the opportunity to have us shoot them – they were such troopers and we have a full behind-the-scenes video to show for it. Please enjoy the video and the photographs.

Special thanks to Aaron Lejarde and Randy Sta. Ana for Shy’s Hair and Make-up. Shy used her Veluz Reyes’ white wedding gown and Patricia Santos’ red and nude gowns while Ian wore his wedding suit by Boy Kastner.
