Destination: Love | Oly Ruiz’ First Solo Exhibit
Early this year, I had the extraordinary privilege of having my first solo exhibit at Edsa Shangri-la Hotel. Produced by the hotel as part of their Art of Wine series, my most iconic destination wedding photographs were showcased for an entire week and the opening night was a compelling success.
I’m blessed to have the opportunity to shoot in locations most photographers only dream about. That’s why the collection we had here was both unprecedented and transcendent.
I’m still in awe whenever I remember that moment and I would like to express my appreciation again by reposting what I said before here:
First and foremost, thank you to the Wedding Essentials team of Crae and Kitten. For helping me with the event materials and being present during the entire the time of the set-up. I don’t know how last night would have been ready and beautiful without you.
Marbee, people will not believe that a person as nice and as unselfish like you exist. But you do! The recent times that we’ve became close friends, I’ve realised and learned a lot. Surely you are a bright spot to a lot of people’s lives and you are a really really bright one in mine. Thank you for your wits and all of these happened.
Thank you to Mike of Edsa Shangri-la and the rest of his group for inviting me to be part of the Art of Wine series. It’s truly humbling and an honour to be amongst the most esteemed artists in the country. My first exhibit couldn’t have been showcased in a better way or place.
Thank you to Chad and Tin of Moet for the overflowing champagne and the exquisite tower that went with it. They are easily one of the highlights of the event.
Thank you to PH of 4th wall and to Imee of Photocraft for always supporting my endeavours. Your polished work and top-notch materials make my photographs look even better.
To all my industry and non-industry friends. I may not be able to enumerate each and every one of you but I know who you are and you know who you are. Your support from the beginning until now and to wherever this may take us, I will hold dear till I’m no longer here.
To all my couples. The photos I take are beautiful because of you. Your complete trust, your earnest support, and your passion for all things amazing allow us to achieve great things. Thank you for letting me hang you on side of buildings, use you to charm wild animals or whatever that it takes – our experiences and your love continue to inspire me to be better.
Last but certainly, not the least, thank you to the astounding support of my family. Especially of course to Nina, my wife, who is my number one fan and my unfaltering supporter and my kids, who always can’t understand why people want to take pictures with me. All of these mean something because of them.
I’m overwhelmed with everything that has happened and with what Metrophoto has accomplished so far with all your support. This is not an end but another beginning for more and better things for all of us.
Please enjoy the photos from that evening :)
